At least 1500 people are dead after an earthquake in Nepal with many Australians among the missing. The earthquake also triggered an avalanche at Everest base camp, which resulted in the death of 13 people. A dreadful situation with fatalaties occuring in 4 countries - Nepal, Tibet, India and Bangladesh.

People can express concern for both. Compassion is not an either or choice.
I've seen a few fundraisers advertised and know people have headed on over there to help out. It's going to be a slow process and it's a shame that some of the historic buildings will never be replaced. My sympathy is with the people who have lost almost everything.

New Zealand has been ready to go there for days, as we have earth quakes here, these guys are experts from the Christchurch Earth Quakes.
We have been told they can not go because the Airport is not up and running, we have tons of aid/ equipment and experts and we cant get there, so frustrating

Yes, I don't know how those who have gone have got through. They must have flown to a neighbour country and gone by ferry or something.

I just heard on teh news that a teenage boy has been pulled from the rubble . Friends of mine had been touring in Nepal and were going to spend one more night in Nepal but changed their minds and flew out. Where they had been staying ended up being obliterated a matter of hours later. I was so relieved to hear of their safety.
The death toll is now believed to be around 5,500,
Such a tragedy,
