New Hong Kong ?

Seems we are putting out the welcome mat to Hong Kong citizens who may seek to re-establish themselves in the face of their rapidly changing national conditions

Good idea - we have particularly over the last 50 years been very accommadating to many and diverse people groups settling here

Be even better under the circumstances and considering the well funded mode of living of most of those that may seek a new life here - if , and without creating an elite ghetto , allocate through zoning a new development precinct to allow those to seemlessly continue commerce in an evironment accustomed to - with local support of course - in a brand new high tech living/working environment, industrial / office / living

An thinking an area in need of redevelopment due to now redundant industries , has port facilities , close to a large established industrial/commercial centre , with nearby international airport , access to large labour market

any location suggestions ?

Name ?  New Hong Kong ? to provocative .. Shogun City ( japanese but a nice ring to it)

anyhow

I am not so sure what  you were trying to say. Do you agree with the HK people coming here and taking up permanent residence or you don't.? The correct spelling is ACCOMMODATION.

Of course I agree - as they surely would qualify and they have a track record of proven productivity

My thoughts were to take the opportunity to to redevelop a stagnant port-side sector of a certain large city-town ( not Sydney IoI )

sort of tech-town china town but also residential and genuinely ethnically friendly - home away from home.

So you're advocating ghettoism rather than assimilation?

I fully agree with Dave. Separatism creates disharmony and in turn creates classes and racisms. If they want to come here they should not try to duplicate another 'Fragrant Harbour' That ceased to exist in July 1997. Assimilation is the only way to go, for all.

WTAF???

What? They've all got slanty eyes anyway so it doesn't really matter???

Any more casually racist comments you'd like to add? You've already shot down your credibility with the above comment, you might as well just go for it now

People tend to like being amongst people that understand their language, customs and traditions.
We have whole suburbs here in Sydney where certain ethnic communities have established their national identity, and are thriving
I wouldn't call them "ghettoes".
