Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.
The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.
Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.
Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.
"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."
The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.
Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

Like I said nothing to do with missing Madeleine at all....not even remotely connected.

it was 'discovered' to be a fake though still organised abduction .
If it wasn't discovered to be fake what would it be ? ..an organised abduction ?
Those involved were charged with kidnapping weren't they ?
and the British women let off as they were 'playing a game' ?

it gives me hope that the child may be alive .
it all looks so staged and obvious ...as though people are meant to query things and while they may not have followed up on/passed on reports/leads and had the best PI's....they had the best Lawyers ready to sue for people making quite obvious assumptions/theories.

What on earth does that have to do with the dispapearance of a child, which is still missing years later?
And yes, I can understand why would the McCanns sue people who repeat unsubstantiated gossip and/or make up stories about them in time when they are trying to cope with such an enormous tragedy. That rubbish that you keep posting is what totally derailed the investigation.
The 2 women story was a GAME, stupid game, like a surprise party with an edge. Just like the group of kids in Melbourne few years ago who drove up and down Collins street in the city with balaclavas on. They were arrested and charged. People get charged for stunts like that because it wastes police time, makes it difficult to police when you do not know if you have on hands real crime with threat to people's lives or a stupid joke. If they did this in the USA they would most likely been shot dead on sight.

I am not really sure what you are getting at.
Are you saying Madelaine was "fake abducted?"

many online are discussing that Sunday Times article and asking why the fund would have their Lawyers legally gagged their own PI's who were paid to find their daughter .These being very same efits which have only recently been published as a new breakthrough in the case .These done in 2008.
and we read that some unknown citizen came forward with his daughter's pj's and posed for the police (ruling out JT sighting) and apparently Mr Smith now doesn't believe that it was GM he saw .
It seems that it is safe for the fund to release those efits now ?
If I wanted to find my child (be she dead or alive) as soon as possible ...my PI's would be told to follow all leads not be given threats that if they release that now vital info info without consent they could be sued .
Money or finding my daughter ...which would matter most ?
Those who tell the truth have no need to hide.

could anyone blame them for sueing?
Sept.
Mr Wright said he was concerned about the twins being able to read about the allegations on the internet after Amelie McCann had already found her name through an online search.
He told the court how he and his wife, Kate’s cousin Anne-Marie Wright, had spent the weekend with the McCann’s on the second anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance. This followed a documentary broadcast on Portuguese TV channel TVI in April 2009.
He said: “The weekend we all spent together was horrible. They arrived at the cottage having received phone calls from friends they had made in Praia da Luz telling them that people were tearing down posters we had put up saying ‘we know what happened. The child is dead.´
“That news had a terrible impact. To hear that people were accepting the thesis of the book caused them huge, visible distress and great anger.”
Around 2.2 mllion people in Portugal watched the documentary – leading Mr McCann to admit to his friend that for the first time he felt he could not go on.
Mr Wright told the court: “Both he and Kate are very strong and driven people and for two years they had been dealing with the disappearance of their daughter, the media backlash, being made arguido… Through all this they had led the rest of the family and other people in helping find Madeleine. So to hear G Talk about it being too much to carry on and to see him almost broken was a great shock.”
The McCann's are suing Amaral, his publishers Guerra & Paz, TVI and filmmakers VC Filmes for libel and damages equivalent to £1million.
The book sold 120,000 copies until an injunction filed by the McCann’s removed it from bookshops. The injunction was later lifted when the court ruling was overturned.
The trial is due finish hearing evidence in November.

British tourists bizarre birthday 'fake abduction prank' (total waste of police time and resources)... not relevant to a child missing presumed abducted from her bedroom in a Portugeuese hotel apartment.

If I was able to afford to sue anyone who made false statements about myself, I would certainly do so. Especially if I was accused of having something to do with my childs disappearance and I was 100% innocent of those claims.
The court ruled in favour of the McCanns in their defamation cases so far. Are people suggesting the courts are corrupt to do so?
