Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

Oh you girls are soooo bad. ROFL. I mean buying computers and machines and not telling hubby. Hehehehehe.

Mine would not know if I changed my machine but he would if I changed computers. LOL.

I have been very busy with organising the outlaws 80th birthdays and 60th wedding anniversary celebrations, it's all over now, I have a bomb site to clean up but then I might pull out my chenille (thanks for reminding me MissLinda) and have a think what to do with it, only had it for about 4 years.:^O

Hi everyone...new computers and new sewing machines! LOL did you see anything you liked Karen?

I spent most of last week finishing off the quilt for my friend, the houses represent the black fishing huts on Hastings Beach.

I had loads of problems with it and reverse sewed more than I care to admit. I am still not entirely happy, but will wash it and then give it to her, as I'm worried that if I fiddle with it anymore I will only make it worse.

so here it is:

oops sorry about the size....and I can see a chalk line down one of the houses, hence the need to wash!!

Hi chuk, thanks, yes an Aussie outback one would be brilliant and relatively easy, you just need to use the colours.

Can't remember (LOL) the name of the book, will have to go home and have a look, but the pattern wasn't in it as such, just the inspiration to do something that had a story behind it IYKWIM. And it did give me a guide to setting the squares on point... I'll have a look tonight and post the title.

In the meantime bought a great jelly roll book called Jelly Roll inspirations by Pam and Nicky Lintott. Lots in there I would love to do. Here I go again!

I just can't get into mine at all. Not happy with it, looks too busy, yeah she says after making nearly 30 squares. (insert eye roll smiley) Reversed sewed heaps but still not happy.
Bought this cute little block veiwer that you look into at one block and it shows what the whole thing will look like.
Might use it see if I'll be happy with the end result.
I think you have unleashed a hidden talent with your quilt

Oooo that block viewer sounds pretty speccy. Ehere did you get it?

I did do a lesson at the quilt shop here (different quilt I have still on the go and nowhere near finished) and they used a "eye spy" thing, like you put in your front door to view the blocks, but didn't really who you what it would look like finished?

I also need some sort of calculator thing 'coz my maths is pretty poor and I have trouble working out how big the triangle should be if the square is such and such....

Very nice!! Excellent result, you should be pleased.
Now, I have always had trouble with triangles that become squares of a certain size so this is a good thing to remember.... add 7/8" to the squares.....
I won a raffle recently..... jelly roll of green variations and a beautiful book On A Roll by Heather Mulder Peterson. I will get around to it soon.....

ok got me the fabricalc, it does EVERYTHING and the viewer is really cheap, it's like a kaleidescope cost $8.00 both from spotlight.
