Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

Hi, I've just found this thread and it's very nice. I made some patchwork at at school years ago out of two tea towels :8}

It wasn't very good but I did learn how to put the three pieces together, the backing, middle and the tea towels that I had sewn together.

I don't think it could be called a quilt or a wall ornament, but it did sort of all go together. We used it as a coffee table cover in the end and I kept it for years. One day, I will learn how to quilt properly though.

Thanks for this thread, there are some lovely quilts.

Hi Teddy!! Haven't seen you for a while 🙂
A quilt is 3 layers of fabric sewn together....so yes, it was a quilt, lol.
I am still learning...... Now, a patchwork quilt is something else, lol.
Amber.... you will need a cutting mat... a cheapie from the cheap shop is fine, I still have my $10 one from 10 yrs ago......a rotary cutter, the best you can afford...mine is ergonomic and cost $25... and a ruler.... basic one ....and one I use the most.... 6 1/2" x 12".
I also have a 6 1/2" square and a 24" x 6 1/2" and 8" x 24" as well as a few other different shapes.....

Thanks pieceful... I think I might have a mat somewhere (if I haven't thrown it out, and I also own a plastic rule (somewhere too).. have moved twice since I last saw those items:)

However the rule will be too large I think.... from memory it about 1mtr x 20cm...hmmm

So I'll need to buy a new ruler
......and definitely a rotary cutter., closest thing I own is a pizza cutter... thinking that's not going to do the trick :^O:^O

there are some good buys for those items on ebay

i have a 24 inch one and hardly use it its too big and a pain in the butt

so the 12 inch gets used the most
also have a mitre ruler (yes im swearing but i love doing mitres) and a wavey ruler for curves
