Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

LOL watching this space......

I delivered the bear quilt today and the recipient was so genuinely rapt and touched.

Her comment was something along the lines of

"Oh you made it, thank you so much. Really appreciated, and so personal"

Made getting the setting triangles to work worthwhile!!

Still struggling with the Asian placemats LOL

Keel, I made different blocks for my bear quilts, just so long as they are the right size, it really doesn't matter.
I am cutting out fishies>>>>>>>>

not quite a quilt question but can someone tell me how easy or hard is it to sew tulle? My niece has turned into a mad princess ballet nut thanks to angelina ballerina and I want to make a tutu for her with fairy wings of course so it's a little abby caddaby too

sorry chuk, I would find it difficult but someone else might not. I think Twinkle might be able to offer advice.

Hi chuk ♥

Making a proper tut i.e. 5 layers of variable lengths, sew one on top of the other is really quite difficult and it is sewn onto lycra pants, usually before the crotch is stitched, but is still quite hard.

On the other hand making a princess tulle play dress is pretty easy, Make a waist band of stretchy stuff like Lycra or T shirting, gather up 2 or three layers of tulle and attach to the band.

You can sew one layers about 1 inch below the other and it is often sewn with a widse zig zag or stretch stitch.

Hope that helps.
