Only 2 Weeks On The Job And Already Pulls A Sicke

KYLE Sandilands has already pulled a sickie less than two weeks after he started on air at Kiis FM.

Frustrated fans of the show vented on the Kyle and Jackie O Facebook page this morning after hearing what they thought was a prerecorded show featuring replays of previously-aired segments.

"If Kyle or Jackie are sick your listeners would be more understanding if Krista (the newsreader) mentions it briefly through the news bulletin!" said one Facebook fan.

"What is with all the repeat segments?" wrote another fan.

"Seriously guys, you have been on for 2 weeks ... U seriously think we won't notice!!!!"

The successful radio duo, who left 2Day FM late last year to start their new show on Kiis FM, didn't reference whether or not the show was prerecorded on air this morning.

But in response to the listener complaints, Jackie O took to Facebook almost two hours after the show finished and admitted that some segments were prerecorded.

"Hey guys, thanks for all your comments, sorry we did have to replay some of the best bits from the last two weeks, given kyle couldn't go live to air for those breaks because he was ill," Jackie O wrote.

According to an ex-2Day FM staffer, Kiis FM executives should get used to Sandilands being a no show, claiming it was a frequent occurrence when he worked for Southern Cross Austereo.

"Part of his contract was that he had to have a prerecorded show in the can because he was sick so often," the ex-2Day staffer told news.com.au.

"And we were in a no-win situation because as soon as he'd recorded the show he would then take a day off because he knew there was a show waiting to go."

The ex-staffer also alleged that Kyle Sandilands would often only notify the 2Day FM bosses that he wasn't coming in that day at 4.50am in the morning, just over an hour before he was due to go on air, meaning they had to rush to organise a fill-in host, usually Jules Lund, to go on air with Jackie O.

"Jules Lund had a hotline in his house and only the 2Day FM program director had the phone number," the ex-staffer said.

"Two to three times a month Lund would get a call. We'd call it migraine duty. And we'd scramble at a million miles an hour to try and get a show on the air."

When Kyle and Jackie O left 2Day FM, they were the number one FM show in Sydney, winning an incredible 52 FM radio surveys in a row.

The first ratings results for 2014 will be released on March 11, with many industry insiders expecting the controversial duo to retain their number one position.

I don't listen to their breakfast show, but I do like to listen to Rosso Driving You Home with Rosso and his li'l mate Matty Basely. They've had an hour cut of their show and the station plays of whole hour of the mornings breakfast show cuttings in that frame, from 6-7pm instead. Aargh! That's when I switch back to smooth.

I really don't understand what people see in that man - he is rude and crass and really NOT funny.

Our local radio station must be co-owned by kiss as we are now getting K & J's morning show replayed on our station every afternoon / evening... they are woeful.

I'll be changing which radio station I listen to if it continues.
