Our broadband - how bad

Australia is fighting it out with Mexico in offering one of the worst broadband performances in the OECD. Each new set of statistics proves the point.

We are a disgraceful fail in many areas.

The only thing our government seems to do well is create and increase taxes faster than any one else can

Libs tax higher and have slower broadband. 1950s copper lol so why are you complaining?

At least, eventually, if we keep labor in power, we'll all get decent broadband 🙂

neither party have been able to get ADSL to many locations even in metro, so third world.

As for the new and ever increasing taxes just how long has labour been in control of our pockets now.

SN:...."in offering one of the worst broadband performances in the OECD...."

Actually  "fibre and cable penetration — just 4.4 per 100 inhabitants" was the term used,  which has nothing to do with "performance".

Further reading produced this  from a  'Akamai Technologies State of the Internet report'

"The study, which looked at more than 8.8 million Australian internet connections, found just 4.1 per cent of Aussie internet users were downloading content at speeds greater than 10 megabits per second,"  which is what I would expect  (I am on cable at 10Mbs+), BUT the earlier figures were for ONLY  fibre and cable, and we certainly do not have 8.8 million connected to those. In fact most of the results would stem from cable performance, not fibre.
