Europe’s carbon price is now just a fifth of Australia’s absurd $23 a tonne:
European Union carbon permits posted their biggest weekly drop since January as nations and other policy makers considered a plan to temporarily remove supply from the market.
EU carbon for December fell 11 percent this week to close at 3.78 euros ($4.94) a metric ton on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London
In two years, under Labor’s policy, we’ll be linked to Europe’s price. Current prices suggest that compensation pitched now for a $23 a tonne price will then be funded by a tax that’s just a fraction of that, leaving a multi-billion-dollar hole.
(labor wont care as it wont be their problem as they will be voted out leaving their mess to someone else to fix)
Time Climate Change Minister Greg Combet came clean on his mendacious spin.
Meanwhile, China keeps stalling on its own miniscule tax:
China will wait until after this year to introduce a tax on carbon, deferring to concern that economic growth might suffer, a government researcher said.
The nation eventually expects to introduce a levy of 5 yuan to 10 yuan (80 cents to $1.61) per ton of carbon, Jia Kang, head of research at the Ministry of Finance, said in Beijing yesterday.
In New Zealand, where the main source of electricity is hydro power anyway, the carbon price is in t...
We really do look ridiculous in our gold-plated global warming evangelism.

and boats, forgot the boats.
Can't be too tough when people can afford new boats.

It nice to see some people faithfully believe what they are told to believe because it makes it easy not to have people that can look past the spin and use a touch of logic.
I know I get nothing extra because i get nothing to start with, and doing a basic calculation on tax I also get no tax benefit.
People that believe the so called tax cuts are going to be in for a surprise after June 30th when they discover that a host of tax deductions no longer exist, net effect is you win on the swings but they get you on the merry go round :^O
personally it doesn't really matter to me any way, I just don't like being conned and told lies

They're struggling here too. Thing is they're buying new cars, taking holidays, buying new houses or renovating, so it can't be that bad.
yes some people are, its just that most cant and struggle from week to week.
The gap between the haves and have not's is getting bigger by the day

Lots of criticisms, but you've never offered a better solution.

I haven't seen a real one offered by you either, all I see is a repeat of the spin you have been told

I've made it very clear that I support the carbon price, it's an excellent way to motivate everyone to improve their environmental behaviour. Firstly it motivates the big polluters and that feeds on to every individual.
So far the only solution you've offered is a catch cry from the 60s, "save the rainforest". While that's important, it obviously isn't enough and over 50 years hasn't proved a viable answer. So, do you have any better idea?

I'm not talking about the "haves".

I cant believe so many people can blindly accept what they are told to believe without thinking for 10 seconds that it doesn't make sense.
It sort of makes feel that the people deserve whats coming, enjoy while you can.
Climate change is only going to get worse and no tax is going to prevent it.
Believe as you have been told and all will be well 😉

Still no solution :^O
just more complaining.
