What is it with people who ask for advice about a problem they have and no matter what anyone suggests, they give a negative response?
oh that won't work
I tried that a year ago, it didn't help
he wouldn't like that
that is too hard for me
that might upset him
I have arthritis so I can't do that
I sold the pram because he REFUSED to sit in it
I can't use a trolley because he stands up and screams.
BTW, I watched this unfold but didn't offer any advice myself. B-) but I wanted to say "well, guess you can't fix the problem, better just accept it and keep on doing what you are doing :)"

Some people just look for an answer that requires no effort or blame on their behalf in my experience.

I learned a long time ago, that people will ask advice, & then according to their own 'schema' or world view, including experience, will patch together a solution that works for them.
Sometimes it's just other aspects of a problem people need reflected....appreciating that, I don't get annoyed if people make their own minds up. I think the fact that an individual is open to other viewpoints is the main thing...JMO

I think sometimes people like the drama and the attention but when it comes to actually applying the advice they have been given to their lives they refuse to do it.
I agree with Bella's view.

agrees - and it happens here in cyberland too.

I have foundPeople do that for two reasons
1 when they dont like the suggestions because it requires some effort from them and will keep asking different people until they hear what they want
or 2 they just like to winge so people can feel sorry for them
