People who ask for advice.

What is it with people who ask for advice about a problem they have and no matter what anyone suggests, they give a negative response?

oh that won't work

 I tried that a year ago, it didn't help

he wouldn't like that

that is too hard for me

that might upset him

I have arthritis so I can't do that

I sold the pram because he REFUSED to sit in it

I can't use a trolley because he stands up and screams.

BTW, I watched this unfold but didn't offer any advice myself. B-) but I wanted to say "well, guess you can't fix the problem, better just accept it and keep on doing what you are doing :)"

maybe they aren't really seeking advice so much as wanting to be heard.

I know what you mean azureline.  I've been asked for advice, then the person doesn't listen to you.  What really annoys me is when I've done a bit of research or its a topic I know well, to get told I'm totally wrong.

It wasn't a vent...... I get those, it was a "what advice can anyone give me with this problem I have, HELP!! "

Happy, yes, exactly that, the people she was asking have experience with what she was asking.

I think sometimes people like the drama and the attention but when it comes to actually applying the advice they have been given to their lives they refuse to do it. Or alternatively won't acknowledge the issues that led them to that place, so refuse to fix the problem.  Def not normal behavior.

Bella, that is what I thought but wondered if I was being a bit harsh. :^O Thank you.

So, advice was given, she rejected all of it, every single one...... and her last comment was indicative of her intention. No action. (I can see a 3 yo becoming a child no one will enjoy having over for a visit)
