Katy I've always found their phone people very polite and patient. I think but not sure
1300 nos are charged whereas 1800 nos aren't.
Afraid I don't understand #47 either but I'm a bit of a dummy, lol.

Thanks, Bright.
You know, if I want to buy bread, cheese, frozen foods, chicken stock, a new fridge, a new stove, a hammer, beads, whatever, generally I make my mind up within minutes or at worst, hours ... it's all out there, it's pretty simple ... but this here internet and phones just seem so much more complicated. I guess in part it's because you get locked in for two years (or have to pay more money).

Katy it IS complicated and confusing with so many plans available so you're not
alone.
Maybe make a list of the features you want, and ask about them when you
ring a provider, and tick them off?

Katy, that's why I stick to prepaid because I don't want to be tied to a contract with a service that doesn't work in an iron lung.

Last I heard TPG were not yet providing NBN services.
TPG are now providers, just not providers of high speed.
TPG are not recommended by gaming people, not the ones I know anyway as they don't buy enough backhaul.
Skymesh seems to be getting the best value reports so far.
Sorry, forgot to mention Skymesh offer a 3 month trial period
Freaki ... could you translate please?
TPG are offering services on NBN but from reports they are same as ADSL, good for people not using much bandwidth, not so good for games, images and videos.
Skymesh were previously only satellite providers but are providing NBN services as well now. I have heard only good reports about their NBN service.

Thanks, Cue and Bright and Freaki ...
Freaki, my son is a gamer ... what would you recommend?
We don't have NBN here until May.

I would not recommend TPG for gaming, based on whirlpool complainers and observations. It suits old people who use emails but not people who use graphics heavy applications such as games.
Watch the rollout maps and be ready to go when it's turned on. I found in the lead up I had ISPs, esp Telstra, wanting to sign people up to contracts. Telstra get them on contract and keep charging line rental type charges even after switching to NBN.
Most RSPs offer a $10 month VoIP service instead of a landline at $30-50 per month.
Down town Coffs is on already and the rest is not too far behind.
Don't trust the call centres to give accurate or valuable info. They just want to sell the service. Some RSPs are offering half price for 6 months deals as they turn onto NBN, but only to new customers.

Thanks, Freaki ... when I checked earlier they said my address was "under construction" in terms of NBN. I've seen the guys out the front doing whatever they do ... I guess I imagine they wait until most of Coffs is ready to hook up?????

Won't be long anyway. They switch it on by service area (forgotten what they call them). First goes from showground, across the road Beryl to Bray streets, but not all the way to the end of them. The they spread out from there. There are about 6 other service areas surrounding the first one.
This is how the build grows and gains momentum. It all sort of fans out from the first build location or point of interconnect. The original plans have been adapted and are changed to fit in with the Telstra Network since the agreement was struck. This costs more in some areas and less in others but should speed up the build because they can use a lot of existing infrastructure.

Well thanks, I think. 😮 Not being old, and using the internet extensively for videos and Youtube and other similar applications I think that's rather a sweeping statement, lol.
