Here goes nothing.........this is a photo I took on board USS Essex, circa 1968, on our way to the Med. It is of a selection of fellow messcooks, taking a break after Midrats were served. The flooring was linoleum squares, placed down over the steel deck, using an overabundance of mastic, the oozing of which required us to scrub the floors twice a night.......once after dinner, and once after midrats. I also had the (honor?) of creating a number of silhouettes out of spare tile, and intergrating them into the flooring. You can barely see the floor, but believe me, it is there. Also brushed out the rack on the young lady who has that youth so excited.
