Thanks Kopenhagen. I did misunderstand and I thought he had passed away. I am glad that he is still going strong.
It does sound like he has had a wonderful and fulfilling life and has given so much back. It is also very nice to hear of someone being so proud of their father.
In some ways he sound a lot like my own who fairly recently passed away. A very hard worker, also in shipping and also was involved with sports clubs and I remember when he also coached my brother's soccer team when he was young.
After his retirement he and his second wife (mum died quite young) moved to a country coastal town and he started up and ran boot scooting classes of all things 
and also lawn bowls until his mobility let him down. I'm proud of my dad too and he is greatly missed by a lot of people.
Yeah I'm sure he is missed, sounds like someone whom was self motivated and positive in life, lifting others spirits.
Great to have those memories in ones heart n mind
