Thanks so much, JDS. If I get a chance, I'll walk down to the park tomorrow, and give it another try.
She did leave her nest to give me a scolding the other day. It was very cute. I don't think the eggs have hatched yet. The park ranger showed me the nest a few weeks ago, and I have been checking on it every few days. It's very exciting to see her sitting on the eggs.
The hawks did not return to their nest this year. I've been taking pictures of those babies for the last three years. I think the renovation of the pond has cut down the food supply, so they relocated. The nest is still there.

I just took my cheaper cannon today. No tripod.
She is so tiny, it have a hard time finding her in the tree when I zoom in. Too bad I cut off the tip of her beak in one of the photos.
Still not great. The remote should be coming in a couple of days.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get pics of the eggs, or the babies when they hatch. The nest is about 12 feet high. Maybe when the little heads pop up for food?

The babies came, and left the nest. I didn't get any more photos. There were two little tiny beaks hanging out of the nest, and then the two babies emerged over the weeks. No pics... because I didn't take my camera.
I went to Catalina Island, in California last week, to say goodbye to a good friend who passed last November.
A few pics below.

I seem to like to take photos of shop windows.

Got a new camera. (Dropped my other one during the winter. ). It's just another point and shoot---an Olympus something or other. But it has a manual mode where I can set the aperture (whatever that is), shutter speed and something else which I forget. It also has a macro and panaromic mode which I never had before. And 48x zoom.
Here's a picture I recently took. There's a Red wing blackbird in the marshy grass in the middle of the pond.
Here he is with the zoom:

I don't like it much though. It's heavier and more bulky than my old one and there's this stupid unremovable blue film on the viewfinder which I think is meant to cut down on sun glare when you're trying to snap a picture. But it also makes it hard to see!
I guess it takes pretty sharp and clear pictures though.
There's a broken egg next to this turtle. Hope he didn't eat what was in it!
