Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.

The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.

The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.

In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.

"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."

The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.

The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

alien abduction?

no, I'll stick with some sort of weaponry like laser microwave or thermo nucleic devices for now.

"...Laser weapons usually generate brief high-energy pulses. A one megajoule laser pulse delivers roughly the same energy as 200 grams of high explosive, and has the same basic effect on a target. The primary damage mechanism is mechanical shear, caused by reaction when the surface of the target is explosively evaporated.[citation needed]"...

Laser weapons, eh?

More support to the alien involvement theory.

If you are using the word 'alien' as an adjective then I would have to agree.....

As I said earlier in one of my posts:

"...'funny' how the search parties were instructed to suddenly start searching in the complete opposite direction-other side of Malaysia in fact(!) to where the planes last known location was..........convenient for 'some' perhaps?"

 __________________________________________________________________________________________

Not "funny" at all. A days after the plane went down it was reported that a radar had reported something off course so they included searches outside their expecetd area to ensure that all possibilities were covered.
Are you not reading the paper and the reports daily?

Just released Chinese surveilance satelite pics from March 9 show an incident in the ocean which could be a plane crashing into the water. News Asia reports that 3 large pieces of debris, the largest approx 24 metres are shown in the pics.

Oil rig worker says he saw missing plane burning in sky

A NEW Zealand oil rig worker has claimed to have seen the missing Malaysian Airlines plane burning in the sky.

Mike McKay told his employers, in an email made public overnight, that he had observed the plane burning at high altitude.

"I believe I saw the Malaysian Airlines plane come down. The timing is right," he said.

"I tried to contact the Malaysian and Vietnam officials several days ago. But I do not know if the message has been received."

Mr McKay said he was on the oil rig Songa Mercur, off south east Vietnam.

When he observed the plane it appeared to be in one piece, he said.

"From when I first saw the burning (plane) until the flames went out (still at high altitude) was 10 to 15 seconds," he wrote.

Several online news outlets have posted the letter, and say the man's employer has confirmed it's authentic.

ABC reported that Vietnam officials confirmed they had received the email but found no wreckage in the area specified.

..."...

On 16 May 2011, Le Figaro reported that the BEA investigators had ruled out an aircraft malfunction as the cause of the crash, according to preliminary information extracted from the Flight Data Recorder.[149] The following day, the BEA issued a press release explicitly describing the Le Figaro report as a "sensationalist publication of non-validated information". They stated that no conclusions had yet been made, that investigations were continuing, and that no interim report was expected before the summer.[150] On 18 May the head of the investigation clarified this contradictory information, stating that no major malfunction of the aircraft had been found so far in the data from the flight data recorder, but that minor malfunctions had not yet been ruled out.[151]

On 27 May 2011, the BEA released a short factual report of the findings from the data recorders without any conclusions....

....Findings from the flight data recorder In October 2011, a transcript of the voice recorder was leaked and published in the book Erreurs de Pilotage (Pilot Error) by Jean Pierre Otelli,[170][179] The BEA and Air France both condemned the release of this information, with Air France calling it "sensationalized and unverifiable information" that "impairs the memory of the crew and passengers who lost their lives."[180] The BEA would subsequently release its final report on the accident and Appendix 1 contained an official cockpit voice recorder transcript which did not include groups of words deemed to have no bearing on flight.[181]".............................

Before and after the publication of the final report by the BEA in July 2012, there were many independent analyses and expert opinions published in the media about the cause of the accident....

On 16 September 2012, Channel 4 (UK) presented Fatal Flight 447: Chaos in the Cockpit, which showed data from the black boxes including an in-depth re-enactment. It was produced by Minnow Films.

....I am sure I read somewhere where there were many minutes of the black box recording-before the fatal crash of this French flight-that was not available/missing. I will keep looking for this info.

i am sure i read somewhere there is a man in the moon too

ref this latest Malaysian plane's disappearance-

a scenario could be......'someone' with something to 'hide' located 'something' in or around the last known location in the Gulf of Thailand/South China Sea.....so to prevent the search parties from 'seeing' what had been 'found' and subsequently 'gathered as classified evidence' the official command to all search parties was to change course and search in the opposite direction for a bit -in the Strait of Malacca was far enough away.....then they were called back later to resume searching same area and a widened area.

just a scenario :smileywink:

POST 48

"...The logic behind my thinking is simply that a plane does not just vanish, if someone downs it there is going to be wreckage. The big mystery is why none of this wreckage despite some earlier reports has been found. My theory is that wreckage was indeed found by the first responders, but they aren't revealing it and going with the disappearance story. Something that makes more sense than say aliens or whatever, given all the possibilities which have already been covered (especially due to wreckage). One would have to wonder WHY such first responders would bother to hide something like this if it was an accident, and so my theory follows that it wasn't an accident. Of the groups likely to down a plane in the region, China, with their increased belligerence in the region and bold claims to the entire South China Sea region, is the most likely culprit of the groups in the area that have the tech to do it.

Not a popular theory mind you, but it's a passable one for the moment whether people like it or not. We'll see what happens and if we ever get answers."

Yet more C&P with no technical appreciation.

"no, I'll stick with some sort of weaponry like laser microwave or thermo nucleic devices for now."

So what exactly is a laser microwave?.  I am aware of masers, lasers, even microwave excited lasers, the latter being relegated  mainly to the historical waste bin.

However,  high power laser experiments at the moment  involve the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. Currently they are testing with a $4 billion  large building sized unit,  composed of 192 separate lasers all focused at a tiny point (not an aircraft)!

As for practical, and in service laser weaponry, "the US Navy could deploy a laser weapon operationally between 2017 and 2021 with an effective range of 1 mi (1.6 km" This is due for seaborne trials in 2014, whilst the US  army and Israel are experimenting with short range defensive lasers.

So look out for a large evil building  flying at an altitude of  8 miles (1 mile above an aircraft at 35,000 feet, and too low for orbit) with hostile anti aircraft intent,  and of course total secrecy from all concerned.

"thermo nucleic devices" what exactly might that be P007?  of course,  something with evil intent that is lurking off (above?)  the coast of Vietnam in total secrecy, again.

Perhaps these devices are stored and operated from the evil chemtrailers bases? Perhaps one of the evil chemtrailing aircraft have been converted to house these  weapons, all in total secrecy, and then lurk and ????? this particular aircraft.

Give us a break P007, or at least some valid/believable technical information which you comprehend. How about explaining why you think it is so  "easy" to locate a ULB on the sea bed. I will give you some help:

In the search for the Air France  Flight 447 wreckage,   the sensors used to detect the ULBs  emissions (37.5 kHz)   were assessed to detect them at a lateral range of 1730m with a POD of 0.90 (probability of detection) I will be generous and allow you a 2km range, easy ?
