Plane missing with 236 people on board

Malaysia Airlines says one of its planes has gone missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

A statement from the airline says flight MH370 lost contact with air traffic controllers at 2:40am local time, just over two hours into the flight.

The plane, a Boeing 777-200, left Kuala Lumpur at 12:41am on Saturday, and had been due to arrive in Beijing at 6:30am local time.

The company says the plane was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members.

The airline says it is contacting the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, which includes people of 13 different nationalities.

In a statement on the airline's website, group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airline was working with authorities to locate the aircraft.

"Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilise its full support," the statement said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members."

The airline says it will provide regular updates on its website.

The ABC understand Malaysia Airlines will hold a press conference on the incident shortly.

N.B. ...just a 'scenario'....

strange: a scenario could be......'someone' with something to 'hide' located 'something' in or around the last known location in the Gulf of Thailand/South China Sea.....so to prevent the search parties from 'seeing' what had been 'found' and subsequently 'gathered as classified evidence' the official command to all search parties was to change course and search in the opposite direction for a bit -in the Strait of Malacca was far enough away.....then they were called back later to resume searching same area and a widened area.

Another scenario.. The plane went missing.. Reasons as yet unknown.. Not yet located because no one knows what happened to make it go off course and no one knows where it ended up (landing or crashing? Not known either).

You maintain the FBI are engaged in a consipracy to hide the truth about the missing plane.

The RAAF have a plane searching for it, based largely on information given by the FBI

So, are the RAAF (and presumably the Australian Government) in cahoots with the FBI or have they been sucked in be the lies you maintain we are all being fed??

P007 your previous threads alleging chemtrailing and HAARP  use,  show a complete lack of aeronautical,  operational, and technical matters. So why attempt to compound these traits  with yet another crackpot conspiracy theory regarding such a tragic even as the loss of a passenger airliner with so many souls on board.

You ask why the South China Sea region is not considered a now a likely place for the 777-200 to have headed? I would suggest that  if it had continued it would have eventually have been detected by ground based surveillance radar, ( unless it adopted a large radius orbit) remembering the range of the radar is a maximum of 200 miles (if that).  It would also appear that its suggested westerly track  has in fact been recorded by radar which is why the major search area has moved/expanded.

The media / authorities do not know anything certain as to the aircraft's flight path details, however their speculative articles are  based upon a little information / knowledge which is sadly lacking within some  nutty posts here.
