His mothers and fathers family both live and love sport.
Both extended families are long time Macksville locals.
His family home adjoins a turf cricket pitch at Macksville.
There was silence and tears in "Bonsers" (the Nambucca Hotel Macksville) during happy hour hour at news time this
afternoon.
Likewise across the road at the RSL where his bats and gear hang in honour and where the normally raucous
atmosphere was tonight subdued and overtaken by a respectful stunned silence.
His uncles, paternal and maternal have all played, loved and excelled at cricket. His aunts cheered and supported
(and sometimes played as well)
Much of his extended family still lives locally.
His achievements and guidance have helped nurture and eventually skyrocket participation levels in junior sport and
especially cricket in the area.
Phillip's life achievements were inspirational to say the least.
It was an honour to know him, watch him grow and mature then finally see him achieve his goal of representing
Australia.
He was an extremely humble, giving human being and like his father Phillip was truly a gentleman's gentleman.
That the game he loved finally took his life is a cruel irony that defies comprehension
His legacy will live forever in our hearts and minds. RIP
