We have been feeding a group of magpies who come oto our back veranda, shout for food and tap on the kitchen window if we don't notice them quickly enough. Latelyevery time they've apeared, they have been hassled mercilessly by a pair of willy wagtails, who swoop round their heads chattering ferociously. This morning we found out why. there are three baby wagtails currently sitting on a branch in our peppermint tree awating their first flying lessons.

I was entanced by puppy and magpie 🙂 Love the interaction.
Just the other day there was an altercation on my mums back deck between the resident magpie and Clothesline Kookaburra.
Hubby missed the pic but the magpie was just out of shot on the chair and kooka triumphantly turned and covered the prized saucer with his tail.

The wagtails were frantic because both kookas and magpies steal smaller breed birds' fledgings and eat them.

this afternoon this little green baby bird, some type of wagtail??? got stuck under the patio.
it appeared very disorientated.
it flew into the glass door. i didn't knock it self out but fell to the floor very dazed.
one of my dogs sat next to it with it between the opening in his front legs.
he just sniffed at it and growled at the older dog who come to investigate. i'm sure he would have chomped it.
then it come around a flew away
