On Saturday afternoon Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28 fired four rounds at officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The officers, who were hit in head, were assigned from their normal downtown Brooklyn beat to an area of the borough with a high crime rate, authorities said.
New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton said the officers were shot "with no warning, no provocation."
Witnesses saw Brinsley walk to the car and assume what they described as a shooting stance.
"They were, quite simply, assassinated," Bratton said.
At a nearby subway station, Brinsley was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
A message from a teenage son of Ramos' showed the heartbreaking devastation the crime has caused.
"Today is the worst day of my life," 13-year-old Jaden Ramos posted on Facebook about the slaying of his father, Rafael Ramos.
"Today I had to say bye to my father," the teenager wrote. "He was (there) for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It's horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad."
Brinsley had a lengthy criminal record. He was arrested 15 times in Georgia for assorted crimes and arrested four times in Ohio, Boyce told reporters Sunday.
Ramos had just turned 40; Liu had been married two months ago.

You have to remember that the media and what people post to utube is generally the exception to the rule
and / or something that is different that can catch peple's attention or get a good headline. And you can always
find an exception to the rule.
It would all be pretty boring if they just reported the thousands of normal, boring arrests that weren't controversial.
So not saying these things don't occur, they do as shown by what you posted but where humans are involved,
that will always be the case.

Exactly, Aps. there'd be at least 10 good cop stories for every bad cop story. Good cop stories are just cops doing their job, though. Bad cop stories make sensational headlines.

And I wouldn't do it for anything.
Everything you do in the heat of the moment gets over analysed by amateur armchair wan kers.
Look at the latest police shooting. The video had already been released and the mother still
came out shouting in the media
""They won't tell me nothing. His girlfriend told me that the police was messing with him," the man's mother, Toni Martin, told a local broadcaster. "When he was trying to get up and run, they start shooting.""
"This doesn't make any sense for them to kill my son like this," Toni Martin-Green said early on Wednesday from her home located near the University of Missouri-St Louis campus. "I am trying to be calm."
I also read, although I can't find it now where the mother said her son didn't have a gun and was just walking down the street !!!!
All we need now is Obama and Sharpton to open their big black mouths and sprout BS.

Tell that to the mother of Kelly Thomas, or John T Williams. Oh, it's ok, because the majority of people aren't killed or otherwise abused by the police. But taking that into account, that cops abusing their power makes for interesting news to most people, Also consider that not all of these are recorded taken to video to be put on youtube, in many cases, video recording devices are taken by cops and if gotten back, are wiped.
I didn't plan on what they did to me where I would go out and find or buy a recorder. So all I have is my word, they lie and who do you think gets believed? Some of what they did to me was so bad, i wouldn't even think of recording it but rather not be there to suffer it. They are far worse when they come into my own home and no one there to see it. When in public, cops know they are in the public eye and are more carefull. If there's one thing I do give police credit for,, it's being smart. Knowing what they can get away with, how to discredit me, the court system that cators to them, judges that will back them at the cost of throwing away justice and truth.
Not all cops are this sadistic, but even so, they all will cover for the one's who are, back their moves when they should be opposing them. the only one I know of who didn't go along to get along with the corruption, is no longer a cop Regina Taska, and i look for cases of good police, very few results.

joanie, The good deeds that law enforcement does are too numerous to mention, unlike you posting that they are hard to find. Like icy posted......good deeds aren't news worthy, only bad deeds get posted.

I could go on posting law enforcement officers doing good deeds for hours, but I think most get the drift. Probably not you, but most do. 🙂

Do you really think that 10% of "bad" is acceptable? Of-course, they are many good cops, but there are are still too many bad ones. Policemen should be somebody to protect us, not somebody to fear. I am not against police; we need them, but we need them on our side, and the bad ones just need to be weeded out, or if they are so jittery that reach for gun when mother with young kids approaches them, maybe they need a treatment and a desk job.

Martin's grandmother, Margret Chandler, 65, told the Los Angeles Times: 'If he was in the wrong, I want to know he was in the wrong. I want to see the gun in his hand. I don't want them to tell me he had it. I want to see it. These police do some dirty things. They just wait until nightfall to see some young black men and gun them down.'
Despite the three videos and the photos of the gun, Martin's family and many supporters don't believe the version of events that police are offering.

I'd like to know where some of those mothers are when their kids are cruising around shooting random ppl for kicks, or dealing drugs or breaking and entering etc etc.
