And he was a thoroughly nice man too.

My grandmother (maiden name May) used to say he was related but no-one belived her.

We went to a very large May family reunion and he was there.   Looking at the official family tree it appears that he was more closely related than even my grandmother realised.

I grew up on the Northern Beaches and, like so many in the area, knew Nugget.

He was like an uncle to so many of us surfies.

A knockabout, unpretentious, curteous and funny.  A lovely man.
