Ramadan has been underway for a few days, and not knowing too much about it, I did a bit of research.
It was interesting to see that the UK PM sent out best wishes to Muslim communities:

A few facts here:

I found it interesting that non-Muslims take part as well:
Non-Muslims are free to participate in Ramadam. Many non-Muslims fast and even pray with their Muslim friends or family members. Non-Muslims are often invited to attend prayer and iftar dinners.
Those wishing to be polite to someone who is fasting for Ramadan may greet them with Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Kareem, which mean Have a Blessed or Generous Ramadan.
Anyway, play nicely everyone, and Ramadan Kareem !

i am surprised that you don't know that muslims often fatten up over the ramadan. they are allowed to eat after sunset (cos allah can't see it then or so) and boy they do feast LOL
i am allergic to religions too.
