Help please, the thread say's it all.
We found our elderly neighbour on the floor this morning semi conscious, due to our hectic life at the moment we hadn't called on her for a few days, we think she may have been there for at least 2 days. We have a mess to take care of, help please.

Deb, I could cry. She has a medi alert and refuses to wear it. Imagine what would have happened if we had been away. It's so sad, old age is scary.

When she comes home, she will have learnt that she needs to wear it. My MIL was the same.
We did get a few false alarms on days that she forgot to check in but we didn't care about that.
Freddie, she was lucky you found her. You're doing the best you can, you have so much going on yoursellf ATM
& yes old age is scary

Totally agree with you Deb and your neighbour is very lucky to have you Freddie...perhaps she isn`t well enough now to stay on her own?I have a friend who is in her mid 60`s, she fell between the loo and wall and couldn`t move at all..it took 11 hours before her daughter realised something was wrong...it`s horrible getting old!!

Freddie, your neighbour is very lucky to have you. Otherwise the outcome may not have been good at all. Poor thing. Is she in the hospital. It would be good if they could arrange some home help for her too.

This is the 2nd fall she's had, the last one she fell into her bath, I think she was there for 2-3days, that fall was before we came here. I have just been up to the Hospital to check on her, she's so cold, they gave her a bag of fluid before they moved her from her place, they have a 2nd bag running now. She's quite frail, weak and apologising for being a nuisance, bless her. I tell her at 86yrs she's allowed to be a nuisance LOL.

I had a chat with the aged care nurse, it's not up to me to suggest anything, but I do hope her daughters can do something when they get here. She has home care cleaning for about 1hr once a fortnight. If only she would wear her medi alert, at least then if she had a fall or needed help she wouldn't be lying alone for days on end.
