Resurrecting Extinct Animal Species.

Scientists have met to discuss the possibility of bringing back 24 animals back from extinction.

This month’s National Geographic explains how de-extinction works - by taking old DNA samples and reassembling them into a full genome.

This is then injected into embryonic cells which have had their own DNA taken out, and a suitable living surrogate is found to give birth.

Are you for or against bringing extinct animals back? If so which animal do you want to see again?

They're gone for a reason.

The thylacine [Tasmanian tiger) was hunted to extinction by Man as was the Dodo. They didn't die out naturally through climate change that they couldn't cope with thereby making way for a more successful species to take their place or by disease or some inherent weakness in their genes. It was Mans' interference so I have no problem with scientists having a go at bringing them back.

Pimpy, do you mean Lonesome George the Galapagos tortoise that died a little while back?. He was found in some undergrowth on one of the Galapagos islands in the 1970's and brought to some sanctuary where I can't remember. He was the only one left of hundreds of tortoises that lived on that particular island. I think he was about 80 years old when he died.
