The most powerful man in the Hawke Keating government & right wing Labor power broker & political commentator tells it like it is.
Can he be the only honest Labor person?

OP, obviously you know absolutely nothing about him, his history and reputation. Probably the most despised puppeteer in Sussex Street. Nothing happens without his OK and to his advantage..

Prob not as honest in his political life. He was a laughing obfuscater, mendacious & a toe cutter, he got the job done & Hawke & Keating owed him big time but betrayed him in the end.
He also was tainted with many other shady money deals. He fitted right in the Labor fold.
A look through the Hawke/Keating years is not something I care to revisit. As for his comments on the Gillard antipathy in the wider community, he can only tell his experience of it as others have.
He said that he thought something had finally got through to GIllard & the realisation of it was a factor in her breakdown in Parliament. Were there tears? no, no tears were shed.
What was it that got to her? was it the realisation that her time in the Lodge was at an end, she was desperate for a legacy & disabled people fitted her bill. Was the whole thing managed for the 24hr TV news cycle? only she can answer these questions & we know they will never be asked, that's why it was done.
.
Will she be remembered fondly as the first female PM of this country? does she define herself by gender as PM of Australia? no she can't because that would be sexist.
Gender is a big thing for her, has been her whip to whip up hatred for Abbott whilst ignoring the real offenders like Slipper, Thomson & Sandilands.
Will she be a much loved former PM? who knows, who will write her epitaph? & will it contain the real story of Julia Gillard?

has she used her gender or has her gender been used against her... I wonder.

You see Gillard on TV now & wonder why she bothers, nobody's listening, nobody cares, go away.
Labor still trying to make a headline but getting nowhere.
