Yes, on evidence. What you wore to court isn't going to be a deciding factor.

People in the dock are encouraged to look clean & tidy.. Thats not going to get them off a serious charge.

It very well might.  They might be given a second chance.  If not they might be given a shorter sentence.  If their parents are there, that also will help.

People chose to hire a lawyer. If they can't sort out their issues out of court ( like child support or other family court issues, divorce settlement disputes)..thats the way it is.

Are you referring to me?

i am referring to anyone that goes to court for those issues. Matrimonial property disputes that go on and on.. Lawyers make a mint out of those. Is it the lawyers fault those people end up in court?

Same with some family court cases, we have seen some strange examples of those quoted from the news on CS.

I specified serious charges above. Not youth who do minor vandalising etc, who may be let off if first offence, if they have a respectful attitude and show remorse for their actions.

This thread is about serious assault charges. Wearing a suit and pretending to be frail.. Won't influence anyone.

There was NO alternative in 1964.  There was no family court, there was no legal aid.  What would you suggest a woman with two babies should have done to try to get the father of those babies to contribute to their food and shelter?

You look at deserted wives in the 60s who worked to support their children in a full time job that paid 3/4 of a male wage and realise things have changed for the better.

Thank you.  I was reacting to the suggestion (right or wrong) that it was a choice to go to a court.  That's what everyone had to do.
