I've never been to a dawn service, Laney. My ex and his son used to go and then continue on to the RSL where I used to meet up with them later on in the day. It used to be fun, but that's fallen by the wayside now.
These days wer'e much more subdued. OH loves to watch all the war docos but doesn't participate in the Anzac tradition much.
I guess that's why Peter Cosgrove is on the telly appealing to the younger generation.

The Dawn Service is the most spine-tingling, emotional experience Icy. It is something I recommend at least once in anyone's lifetime.
I used to go to the one in Martin Place but over here the main one is held in King's Park overlooking Perth Water and the Swan. Such a spectacular setting for a very moving ceremony 🙂

Hi everyone 🙂
Have a great afternoon

You know, at the Castle Hill RSL, where we often go for Thursday Girls Night Out, they still dim the lights and turn the machines off at 7pm. They recite the Ode to the Fallen while everyone stands and observes a minute's silence.
It's very moving and often brings tears to my eyes.

Hi Iza - same to you 🙂
Icy, that is de rigeur in all RSL clubs and I agree with you - even in those surroundings it is very moving.
Fortunately we do not have the machines over here in ours but consequently they are very small and without the facilities that the t'othersider clubs thrive on.

Hi there Iza 🙂
I didn't realise all RSL clubs did that, Laney.
Come to think of it, that's probably the only RSL that's on my circuit.
The others I frequent are Worker's Clubs or Sports Clubs.

If you are ever in the area Icy, the one at Rose Bay is right on the harbour in quite a beautiful setting. Pleasant restaurant too I have heard although I have not been there since it was all upgraded.

I'll bring that to OH's attention, Laney 🙂

Afternoon everyone 🙂
Oh gawd. I just watched Judge Judy and it was so funny today. A father suing his son for rent money. It sounds horrible when families go to court but although the father was pretty bonkers what a funny and great dad he was.
Judge Judy could hardly contain the laughter. At the end the son said what a perfect man his father was and they gave each other a big hug.
:^O
So hows things?
I've just got to disappear again for a while so I'll find out when I get back!
