Hi Deb
The impact of the heat on the spring growth makes me question the timing of the prescribed burns too. Here in WA, the wildflowers flower and reseed for next year at this time of the year (I think) and the burning off at this time will reduce next year's displays WA is renown for ![]()
Bureauracracy's apparent inability to adapt to the changing conditions is mind-numbing!

I hadn't thought of that Laney - will be a shame if they don't seed.

'They' obviously hadn't either Deb ![]()

At least in Vic they have delayed 'planned burning' until temperatures cool and winds decrease Deb, however, with their access to advanced meteorological information, you would hope they took that into account beforehand!
Appears not in many cases

our cool change has arrived. but the poor old garden is looking a bit wilted. we have a fire burning near Lancefield but I think the wind change may have saved it.. but more problems for smaller townships nearby

i know this township well as we owned and lived on a small property there for 7 years.. our old place is further along the road on the right, would hate to see it burn down as it was built of brick and local stone in 1862

I hope JJ is not in danger Deb - I think he lives somewhere around where your old home was.
Just for a bit of light relief, check out this link to the World Beard and Moustache Championships. All I can say is OMG - I hope they had plenty of vermin baits around ![]()

I thought of JJ too Laney. He used to live in Romsey but is now far away from there in Ballarat
