Morning girls ![]()
Up early and 'at-em' this morning to try and beat the heat! You are right Freddie - going to have to crank up the aircon - today and the next few ....... 40, 42, 42, 41, 39, 36!!!!
See how we get through the day - plan on going down to the beach for dinner tonight in the hope that the Doctor comes in early but it looks like the nights are going to be pretty torrid too. Yesterday marked the 5 year anniversary of the fires in the hills - just hope we don't have a repeat ........ huge benefits being held for the Yarloop/Waroona fires at the moment here in the West.
Freddie we watched some of the FED Cup last night - the court surface looked and sounded like it was sandpaper. Pulled the plug early though - and was surprised by the result of the first match when I checked this morning as Rodionova looked like a winner. Good to see Sam won her match though.
Great to see Magnussen return to form Freddie ![]()
Poor you Deb - you must feel so conflicted by your squatters. Poor little things - sorry but I am kinda glad they landed in your garden as I know you will do the right thing by them both (despite your OH's protestations) ![]()
Restocked our Gatorade supplies for our office so better get them down there and chilling in preparation for the heat! Then off to pick some figs from the little known trees on the river lol
Hopefully catch up later - enjoy your days

Tomorrow we are going to visit my dear old aunt in a Nursing Home in Wauchope (near Port Macquarie) she's my Father's eldest sister i'm guessing she would have to be around 99yrs. She has alzheimer's- Mr F and I visited her about 3 months ago she had no idea who I was not even when I spoke of my Dad and her sisters names -nothing- when I mentioned her childrens names she asked how I knew them.
I took with us pictures of my Dad and Mum - wedding pictures, Dad in his army uniform but there was no recognition until I handed her a picture of my Dad at about 3-4yrs old sitting on his little bike, her face lit up and she looked at me and said "that's my Brother" well I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the excited look on her face and the pleasure she got from that one tiny photo. I will take that photo tomorrow ![]()

the special moments in time that people remember Freddie
on โ07-02-2016 11:54 AM
Deb, I was feeling so sad to think the pictures I had shown her meant nothing until this tiny little grainy black and white picture of this little boy bought her recognition of her only Brother. It was such a special moment for her and me ![]()

Old age is sad Deb I feel the Princess is beginning to show signs of dementia yesterday she was telling me every night when she's trying to go to sleep the rooms either side of her's - both rooms have had the NBN change over have men talking non stop on the NBN
No matter how I tried to explain the set up she wouldn't have it, so I eventually agreed with her ![]()

Ensconced in air conditioned comfort now surveying the fruits of our labour ![]()
The fig tree was laden so we picked enough for ourselves and left plenty for others and the birds. Called into our favourite green-grocer and nearly fell over when I saw the price of the figs there - $39.00 a kilo!!!! Admittedly they were bigger than the ones we picked but I am told size does not matter ![]()
My hairdresser has a huge tree in her back garden and she hates figs - my timing for a haircut on Wednesday week could not be better lol
Reading your posts Freddie reminded me of the trials and tribulations when my Dad developed dementia. It deteriorated when my parents moved because of my Mother's ill health - Dad had been able to disguise it until he was taken out of the familiar surroundings where they had lived for years. I was actively involved in looking after them both during the day but it was not unusual for him to go walkabout in the middle of the night. Eventually I was the one who had to sign him into a dementia specific nursing home as he would suffer 'sundowners' and get aggressive. Horrible, horrible time for them both but not entirely without its sadly funny times though. 'Dad - your hearing aids are NOT your teeth' - as both aids lay in pieces on the bathroom floor having been chewed on. ![]()
Gosh you got me remembering and now waffling on ![]()
Sorry!
