Former prime minister Kevin Rudd plans to make a comeback and serve as Australia's leader for a third time, former trade minister Craig Emerson claims.
Rudd's popularity with the public came crashing down on Saturday when he and Labor were soundly defeated by the Tony Abbott-led coalition, as voters punished the government at the ballot box for years of in-fighting.
But former trade minister Craig Emerson, a staunch supporter of Rudd's predecessor Julia Gillard, said he had been told that the 55-year-old wants to be prime minister again.
"Historians will note that Andrew Fisher served as a Labor prime minister on three separate occasions," he said in a column for The Australian newspaper titled: "Rudd wants to be leader again".

If Rudd wanted to have another go, he could have just stayed on as a leader; many people expected him to do so. If anybody is destabilising the party it is Emerson.

They should expel this poisonous snake from the party. Gillard didn't have the guts to do it & look what happened to her, poor thing, she didn't deserve what Rudd did to her, although no one expected the jihad of revenge & destruction he rained down on her
Where's the cojones to rid themselves of this catastrophe, this grim reaper who has brought the party to the brink of ruin for years to come.
I can't believe he hasn't been tapped yet, where's Albo? the head kicker? what they need is Graham Richardson, a man who was not afraid to do the dirty work, he got him back in now he should get him out.
To even contemplate foisting this narcissist on the Australian people again is anathema , a man who keeps giving & giving a reason never to vote in Labor again.
