There must be more to this story than in the article. The Office of the Public Advocate places a very high importance on the family remaining involved. They will only accept guardianship when there is sufficient evidence that family decisions are not in the best interest of their client - the mother. The decisions are usually around health, treatment, accommodation and/or finances. Ensuring protection of the client is paramount. The legal hearing into the matters is comprehensive and thorough.

Definately more to this story.

 

I have worked for many years, in different facilities, and I've never heard of family members being not allowed to visit.

 

there must be a history to all of this which hasn't been mentioned.
