Corby was sentenced to 20 years behind bars in 2005, for attempting to traffic 4.2 kilograms of cannabis into Bali. Her sentence was later reduced to 15 years. The 39-year-old was released on parole from Kerobokan Prison in February 2014. She is expected to be eligible for deportation out of Indonesia on May 27 next year, leaving behind her home for the past 12 years.
Parole Board officials keeping tabs on Corby will coordinate the details of her release with Indonesian Immigration over the next few months, News Corporation reported.Corby is Bali's first foreigner to be granted parole, and the second in the whole of Indonesia, so the process is unprecedented and logistics are difficult to iron out.
She is required to report to parole officers monthly and adhere to strict conditions of staying away from drugs and not committing any crimes.Mercedes, who lived in Bali when her sister's parole was granted, has since returned to Australia and has recently opened a Gold Coast bar with former pro-surfer Trudy Todd.

I bet she'll be glad to be back on home soil.
Most Aussies will be glad she's back too.

I hope she is just left alone to live her life.
She certainly did her time, some murderers only do 10 years.

prolly best IF you are going to murder someone you do it in AUSTRALIA cos we treat murderers like celebrities.
i'm sure had ms corby murdered someone in bali she would not be comming home, ever.
a lot of people in this country have a missguided idea that authorities everywhere treat crime like they do in australia. not many days go by where a new story of some dumb twit has been caught in a foriegn country doing something that if they got caught here it would be a few hundred dollers fine just to discover they are looking at years and years in prison.
and not one of our 4 star hotel prisons but a living hell where maybe death isnt such a terrible second choice.

overnight a schoolie was arested in bali for, suprise suprise, drugs!
dont these cretins who use bali as the holiday/party destination of choice ever get with the news? can it be there are dummys who dont know the corby case?
you couldnt pay me enough to go to bali (or a few other countries in the region) for a 'holiday'
if you believe ms corby, its a great case of why not to go to bali....EVER!
if you believe shes guilty, its still a great case of why not to go to bali, get caught with drugs, goodby life for a long long looooong time.
i honestly have absolutly no sympathy for anyone running foul of bali laws.

just heard the 'powder' tested negative so did his urine/blood tests.
he ought to be released forthwith and if he does he should get back to australia lickity split

Apparently he admits to buying the powder but it turned out to be something else-not illegal drugs in any case.
The boy claims he has never taken drugs and none were found in his system.
It sounds as if he thought he was buying some type of drug but that's not what he got.
He ought to be very glad he was scammed!!
If there is one thing I can't understand it is why anyone would think it is a good idea to buy or take drugs in a place like Bali.

It was just a pain killer, hope this scared the hell out of that kid.
Way would any parent let their children go to Bali for schoolies is beyond me, the Gold Coast was bad enough.

I think I heard it was something like paracetamol (Panadol). Very lucky boy indeed. It will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get out.
I've heard from people who've been there that the cops set up "dealers" to sell to the unsuspecting tourists, so when they buy it, they can arrest them. I don't know how much truth is in that, but being such a corrupt country, nothing would surprise me.
I've never held a passport, but I can tell you one thing for sure, I'd never go to Bali. Not that I would ever buy drugs, but there have been too many stories of people being caught with planted drugs. There was an older couple a few years ago that found drugs in their bags when they were unpacking when they got home. Obviously the baggage handlers in whichever country forgot to remove them.

What I don't get is why the young bloke was carrying powdered paracetamol?
Who grinds up Panadols to powder?
on 24-11-2016 08:48 AM
Panadols or paracetamol was a powder in it's raw form before being processed into a tablet form.
I suspect he was trying to get drugs but was scammed....he should be very grateful.
