Indonesia's justice minister will sign Schapelle Corby's parole application in the next three days.
Do you think they'll sign?

You can set you preferences to not view signatures in posts.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)
Not, not, not, not, not. Oops, was that upsetting?

They could not make the movie without her permission and payments for the rights.
Money talks, and talks a lot in Indonesia. She may not be able to leave their country, but she will live a life of luxury, such as she never knew before.
Guilty or innocent. The time she spent in prison will be well paid for.

Money will never heal what she has gone through. And I doubt she will ever live a life of luxury. The whole saga has been disgusting and rather disturbing. Never any evidence and she was locked away. 😞

You mean apart from the 4 kilos of drugs in her bag?

Hello, everyone. This discussion is getting a little heated. Could we please communicate with a more civil tone. Thanks!

There was absolutely no evidence that any drugs belonged to her. You of all people with your law knowledge should know that?

She was charged/convicted of importing, who they belonged to was never an issue, was it?

She was convicted which was an absolute disgrace as there was no evidence to link her, no finger prints, nothing. The whole investigation was a complete mess

Either way, and I think it was hers, or her fathers, or her sisters...she deserves to come home. 9 years is long enough in that hellhole.
I'd like to see her come home. She'll get a warm welcome, I'm sure.

How "should" I know that there was no evidence (apart from the drugs in her bag) that the drugs belonged to her?
I know nothing more than what was reported in the media, just like most others.
The only time we looked at anything to do with the Corby case was when we studied the Proceeds of Crime Act in a Legislative Interpretation course - the point being (in adition to being introduced to legisdlative interpretation instruments and approaches) to discover that "innocent until proven guilty" is legal fiction, and to critique the mechanisms that enable such legislation to exist. (Because as we know, that wasn't Australia's first piece of legal fiction, eh?). Her drug case is not a prerequisite in any law school that I know of. The case we studied was about money earned from an interview with an Australian magazine, so an Australian Case.
