For all those who keep repeating that Prime Minister Gillard has not been the target of sexist attacks since she won the last election battle what do you call today's events?
First the Army.
Then the Tim is gay attack on Gillard.
Are you really ready to accept these behaviours as the norm for your daughters and sons?

It's okay am3 I wasn't challenging you, the gap between what I think should happen and reality is sometimes overwhelmingly enormous. 😞 What an amazing story.

That's doesn't mean I know nothing of the scheme, I don't need to know every detail.
I would suggest that funding the NDIS is not not just a "detail", but the means by which the
scheme will run effectively, and allegedly at a cost to the taxpayers in the form of another tax, or discontinuing a current/proposed scheme of some sorts.
"People aged over 65 years at the time they request NDIS support will not be eligible. However, future participants can choose to continue with NDIS once they turn 65."
Fair?
Nothing is 100% fair, but with the NDIS some people who at present were not able to study and then work will be able to do so. That in turn means they will be contributing to the society and pay taxes. The scheme is being gradually introduced; to start with it is not available everywhere and for everybody, after while, as people age and will get to the higher age bracket they remain eligible. Of-course, it is more important to help the young, who have all their lives ahead of them.

Not sure how/when the prosthetics would need to be replaced rabbit.
and one further question - how does this all fit into "Sexism is not real in Australia! is it?"
ask the person who introduced NDIS into this thread.. who ever that was.
I have no idea what is funded and what isn't and I thought that was a good example of the need for the NDIS. Because it was a disease not an injury at work or accident, the money is not there to cover those things for him.
em - I didn't think you were:-).

I think the point being that doesn't matter how much Gillard has achieved the media is ripping her to bits. Instead of intelligent discussion they ask her the stupidest, most irrelevant, questions, and these are just handful of examples what she has to cope with:

It's disgusting the way Julia has been treated and yes I believe it is only because of her gender.

Yes, that is exactly the problem.
Not only that, they blame Gillard for the nonsense talk even when she is the one talking about policy most of the time. She gives a speech to woman and the attacks over that overtake everything else all week.
FGS, Some still want to attack her over the Sattler attack.

How did we get onto NDIS ?
Policies and/or success/failure of them don't validate/excuse sexism do they ?

I heard a feminist on the radio talking about Howard Sattler's recent comments.
She said that, in her opinion, 6PR were right to sack him because sexism is completely unacceptable in today's world, but that she was not surprised by his comments because he's a man and men are naturally ignorant.
