Sorry to hear you are one of the sickies Nic's
My dear old Mum had shingles about last August started on her back and the rash ended up following the nerve
line around to her chest. She didn't complain as much as I would have thought, now and again she would say
something like "there it is again" when asked she would explain it like a burning electric shock. The rash hung
on for well over 6 weeks - she never really picked up after those shingles - she was diagnosed with liver
and kidney cancer in April and passed away at 91yrs on 25th June. RIP My Princess.
All the best Nic's I hope your Doctor can keep you comfortable ♥

I've never had it, but I do know it's excruciatingly painful because it runs along the nerve paths. So glad to hear they have prescribed drugs.
If you are a blood donor, go and give blood. I know it sounds crazy, but they can extract the antibodies from it to give to immunosuppressed kids to help stop them getting it. Of course it would go without saying to ring them first to make sure they can get you straight in. That is also true with chicken pox. The blood bank would love you forever!
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Nicnacs, I'm so sorry you have shingles, very uncomfortable and can be quite debilitating ...
Hope it doesn't affect you too badly and that you have a good recovery and come through it without too much pain, make sure you get plenty of pain relief (your doctor might have told you there is a really good analgesic spray you can apply too ....

Thank you Tas and ooak, all good now, stupid doctors told me I had IBS for 4 years, got sick of the pain and paid for a ultra sound.
Half a hand full of stones ranging from small to large, just key hole surgery, 4 small cuts, home the same day.
Nic hope you recover XXX
The Shingles inoculation only works if you are shingle free at the time

Dear nicnacs, I am so sorry to hear about your shingles. I know how painful and debiliating it can get. When I had shingles a few years ago, it was all around the left side of my waistline. Doctor gave me painkillers and told me it could take many month to go away. (big help?---NO)
My youngest daughter told me to go to the Chemist and get some ZOVIRAX cream. It is a cold sore treatment, but as shingles are from the same virus, Zovirax has a healing effect as well as relieving pain. It is a very small tube and costs about $20.-, but is used sparingly and helps to stop the virus spreading.
I do hope it will help you as well.
Rose, I am pleased to hear about your gallbladder OP, and that you recovered from all that pain now. Some Doctors don't care much about older women when they complain. It's all put down to old age and attention seeking. My own Doctor needed a good push to send me to a Vascular Specialist.when I kept complaining about painful legs and not being able to sleep despite taking Penadol Osteo every night.
Two weeks ago I had some blocked artheries opened and am on six monthly checkups. No more leg pain.
Hugs to both of you,
Erica
