Australia Post has seen a business opportunity attached to the Australia Tax, launching a warehouse in the US state of Oregon, called “ShopMate, that will allow Australian consumers to set-up a US address and purchase goods geo-blocked from selling to Australians:
Parcel Post general manager Kelly Heintz says the service will cut the annoying price difference suffered by Australian consumers.
She says the service also means Australians won’t have to wait any longer than Americans for products that haven’t yet hit local stores.
ShopMate isn’t the first service of its kind in Australia, but it’s the first that won’t rely on more costly international couriers.
Australia Post charges a base rate of $24.95 a parcel, with a weight rate of $5.95 per 500 grams

What about postage from Australia to the USA?
I used to send several parcels a year to my friend in Pensylvania. The last parcel I posted put a stop to it. The parcel was just a few grams over 1 Kg, the contents cost me about AU$20.00, the postage was AU$59.00 Airmail.
How does that add up for making it easier for Australian customers?
