The crime rate is getting out of control. Checkout these unsolved crimes https://www.crimestoppersvic.com.au/help-solve-crime/unsolved-cases/
Many assaults, armed robberies, sex crimes etc... some involving guns and knifes.
The criminals are armed and dangerous and the law-abiding-citizen is unarmed and is put at risk of being killed. The law says we have to remain unarmed and at the mercy of armed criminals. I don't think it is right.
The law says, we have to call 000 police emegency if a crime happens. This wont help us if someone with a knife or gun wants to kill you.
If you want to work as a police officer they do background checks before allowing you to be one.
If you want to work as an armed security guard they do background checks before allowing you to be one.
If you want to work as a fireman they do background checks before allowing you to be one.
If you want to work as a paramedic they do background checks before allowing you to be one.
If you ARE a law-abiding-citizen with no criminal history, clean record, never been in trouble, good reference checks, you are NOT ALLOWED to be armed for personal protection. I don't think this is right.
What do you think?
Lets have a debate.

Law abiding citizens can be armed.................. if they have a need for a weapon. They have to get a licence and pass the criteria.
Self protection has never been one of the reasons.
I don't feel unsafe without a weapon.

On the news it was reported a gang of thugs is terrorizing gaming venues in Melbourne. The gang is armed with guns and a corn cutting device type hook.
If a law-abiding-citizen with a concealed-carry permit had a gun, or the Manager of the gaming venue had a gun, or the security guard was armed, possibly these guys would have been stopped long ago.
BUT,
These guys are still on the loose terrorizing the public.
Who is going to stop them?
What happens next time they rob a gaming venue?
Lets see.... we'll ask them to wait there until the police arrive?
Dumb Dumb Dumb....

Should law-abiding-citizens be allowed to be armed?
even if they were allowed, by law, police would still take their guns, maybe arrest them and violate their rights. police want to be the only ones allowed to have guns, and they are, cops can kill on a whim, make up a lie and news agencys will report it as fact. Shot down John T Williams, beat Kelly Thomas to death, on and on. Police as sadistic and corrupt as they are aren't gonna stand by and let citizens be armed.

Police don't work at gaming venues, banks, RSL's. How will police stop these gangs from hurting people?
Your suggestion is to call 000 and wait there for police to arrive, is that it?

Stupidest post of the week...........if the police were taking guns, morons like these two would be standing with their peckers in their hands.........instead of terrorizing patrons of the restaurant.
