Should mobile devices be allowed in the parliamentary chambers?

How can members or senators be concentrating on the debate at hand while they're tweeting or emailing or, I dunno, playing Angry Birds on their phones or tablets?
I don't think they should be used while sitting in the chamber.

What do you think?

I see what you mean. Sometimes MP's look like high school kids mucking around while the teacher is out of the room.

I agree. We pay these people high wages and we should expect them to concentrate on doing their jobs and not on keeping up to date with their social media pages or candy crush games while at work.

I'd like to see mobile phone use banned for pedestrians as well. Mobile phone use  has been banned when driving as it contributes to the occurence of accidents.

I can't count how many times I have narrowly avoided collision with a pedestrian phone-zombie bearing down on me with no apparent awareness of my presence on the footpath.
