Tired of having to explain why I don't eat halal. This should make it clearer for the unbelievers.

It's a non issue that's being used to beat up muslims and create hatred and anger within Australia.
There is no real need for a ban on the burqa becasue hardly anyone in Australia wears one.

IF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES CAN BAN THE BURQA WHY CAN'T WE?
possibly because 2 state elections are coming up and both parties want the muslim vote
the poll, you're referring too,the difference was only 11%, it's not exactly overwhelmingly in favour
I rest my case. Pandering to a noisy minority and the left are just as bad.

JUSTIFICATION FOR BANNING THE BURQA IN AUSTRALIA
If Islamic countries can make rulings about the banning of full face coverings then why are we, a non-Islamic country, tearing ourselves to pieces over it?
We should align ourselves with much of Europe and many Islamic countries and ban all facial coverings, without exception, in all public places.
Banning all facial coverings can be justified on several grounds, including equality, social cohesion, security (especially at a time security agencies and police are on high alert) and wider national and community interests.
In a democratic country, the wider national interest must prevail over personal choice.
The burqa and niqab are personal choices, not religious requirements (otherwise why would Islamic countries discourage and ban burqas, niqabs and even hijabs?)
Nudists also have a personal choice, but are required to conform to the wider national social expectations of dress code in public places.
The sooner this divisive issue is dealt with and put to bed, the sooner we will have cohesion in this country. While facial coverings are allowed in public places, this issue will remain a festering sore that will re-emerge.
This poisonous debate should end. Put it behind us so we can all get along with each other again.
One rule for all. One Australia for all Australians.
The burqa has no place in a modern society. It is the garb of oppression and standing up for it appalling and enabling.
Shame on all of you who stood up for Gillard for no good reason and yet you are all on here defending this disgusting attire that dehumanizes women. It has no place in Australia and should be banned.

Imagine if we tried to introduce bikinis in the Middle East they would have beheadings, hangings, beatings, stonings it would be total carnage.

Bigotry and racism has no place in our modern and multicultural society. It is used as a tool for oppressing others and standing up for bigotry and racism is appalling and enabling.
Shame on all of you who stand up for bigotry and racism for no good reason and here you all are trying to ban something that a couple of hundred women choose to wear, since when has religious and cultural intolerance been cheered on as if it is our new national sport. Bigotry, racism and religious intolerance have no place in Australia and should be banned.

are you saying if there were more people
wearing the burka/niqab in australia then
there would be a need?

I am guessing there are far more important issues than banning the burqa, for such trivial reasons, that should be being discussed.
