I just watched Materchef US Season 5 Episode 1
(Thought I better start a new thread and not hijack the Australian one)
Plus we can add Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares to this one too.

Hi Sin,
I can't find it on Google (and I looked) but -
A few years ago I happened to be in Connecticut and stopped at a small restuarant. I rreally don't now the ethnicity of the owners but from SOMEWHERE Central or South America by the odd extra items for sale. I remember a drink they had for sale for children. Something to do with a "cow" name. WEIRD stuff. They were open but should not have been. . Half the "store" was still being renovated while customers were there. Plastic divider up, painting the ceiling and walls, etc. It looked like it was going to be a fancy fast food place.
Anyway, I ordered cheeseburgers but what I got didn't look like any other I'd seen. Maybe you have?
I don't remember ALL the extra toppers. Tomato, onions, beans grated cheese and French fries. BUT, not REAL French Fries. Some kind of dehydrated snack-type French Fries. Sort of like a potato chip shaped like a fry. No beets or eggs though. 🙂
Maybe it's done in other "southern" states?

That children's drink was a colorful prepackaged thing with Spanish writing only.
(now they know I'm in the USA by the way I spell colorful)
That's Australian hambuger is interesting. A lot of protein (especially with the egg added) and just about every other mineral and vitamin. For some reason it makes me think of the farmer breakfast - sometimes multiple meats, eggs, etc. They'd need it for the hard work they'd be doing all day. They often didn't eat again until hours after the sun went down.
(Then again, maybe they started putting the beets on the burger because no one wanted to eat beets?)

oh yes,the potato stick burgers,i've had those! here in wichita,it's a brazilian couple who runs the restaurant. their stick burger comes with a beef/pork mix patty, smashed rally flat on a flattop grill, and cooked crispy, lots of white pepper on it. then it gets served on a brazilian roll,it's really big, very soft and has lots of herbs in it,sort of like a focaccia roll.
the"regular" comes with roma tomatoes, black beans, radicchio, grated cheddar, potato sticks, sweet pickles, banana peppers, chili peppers and their own mayo, which has doubled egg yolk in it. they are HUGE!!
i get it with just the cheese, sticks and radicchio, beans on the side. they think i'm a wussy cupcake, but the accomodate me,lol!
many of the south american and latino restaurants here have that drink, you can get it at walmart too! it comes in many flavors, they have a sour cherry and lime that i adore!
this is awful,i can picture the shape of the bottle, but not the name, lol!
i go there and buy just the rolls sometimes, for meatball sandwiches,it is the BEST bread!
nice to see you back over here, btw! 🙂

One of my favorite Mexican drinks is Jamaica tea(pronounced Ha-my-ca). It is made from Hibiscus flowers.

Joz, I've NEVER seen beets offered on a burger in my life.
