That sort of thing I usually recommend looking in the local paper.

(If I had the van this weekend I would offer but I don't sorry)

Update for those who can't sleep wanting to know the outcome .....

I went and had a look at the sofa (the upstairs one in Malvern) and told the seller i loved it but didn't have a removalist to hand, so he rang someone he knew and they said they'd move it if he helped out. for $50. (much less than others quotes).      So the lovely seller helped him carry the heavy thing down the stairs and drove out with him to my place, and together they set it up for me,   and ...... put my old one onto  the porch.  The removalist only asked for $50 and so I paid him $100 and i also paid extra for the sofa.

So I now have a sofa I'm happy with and all is well.     Woman LOL  There are some very nice ppl around.

Great outcome!

Glad it all worked out for you.

If ever you have any other task like that (or anything small really) there is always airtasker.

I used that recently. You write an ad describing the task you want done & how much you are prepared to pay and people reply. You can accept whoever you want and once you do, you pay-but to airtasker. They only release the funds once the job is done.

People there who regularly do tasks get stars i think-sort of like ebay.Smiley Happy

I picked a plumber for a small job then couldn't go ahead, got all my money back, no problems.

Lots of people there seem to advertise for small removals or pick ups.
