I picked up the Daily Telegraph for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was staggered at what I read - pretty much every page (bar the sports, business and celeb) pages was devoted to anti government stories. Most of them nasty and untrue.
I thought perhaps I had picked up the paper on a slow news days so I have been buying it every other day and it is filled to the brim with Rudd hatred.
The Australian newspaper seemed to escape the same attitude. Until this week. It seemed like overnight, the paper went from pretending to be unbiased to being unrelentless in it's anti-Rudd campaigning. And now I understand why:
Murdoch has sent one of his flamethrowing bull dogs to Australia to provide ''extra editorial leadership for our papers …''.
So will Col Allan be here simply to do to the Telegraph and others what he was in charge of doing with the New York Post? That is, foregoing profit in order to promote racism (The Post is the newspaper that brought up those 'Obama is a Muslim' headlines), promote Murdochs business interests and slam governments who are not providing policies in line with Murdochs business plan?
I think so.
Looks like Australian media reporting over the next 2.5 months is about to hit rock bottom.

Martini, I said the same thing to my OH last night, it's such a blatant campaign to spread fear and untruths to the masses. I told my OH I hate seeing the paper come into our home, he only buys it to read the sport.
*angry face*

It's no different on newsdotcomau. The heading links in a political beat up don't even pretend to disguise as to where their allegiance are.

Yellow Journalism (or lack of preffessional ethics) have always been there. However the good thing to counter balance it is that more people are atune to muckraker tactics employed by the media

They have been running a campaign to destroy the NBN from the beginning.
It will mean the end of the Foxtel monopoly as we know it and Rupe hates the idea of that as it's his most profitable business.
Fraudband will ensure no competition.

Politics isn't sport
It shouldn't be about personalities
This is people's futures and their children's and grandchildren's lives on the line
You'll notice none of the monopolistic media is talking about alternative parties ?
That's because they want you to focus on the two big fake parties (which are not as opposed as people seem to believe. It's all an act)
If people would give their vote to alternative parties, it would break the strangle-hold of the Big Two
We have to get other players into the field. Until we do, we have no chance
I'm giving my vote to an alternative party which does NOT give my vote to anyone else
Hopefully, millions of Aussies will do likewise
It's the only way we'll get decent representation. It's the only way we'll curb the utter arrogance of the two big fake parties
So I don't concern myself with Rudd or Abbott. A vote for either of them is a wasted vote. A vote for Greens is a vote for Labor
