this is probably something that you have already considered and checked - do you have neighbours with security cameras that could have captured anything?

"Wouldn't the fear of the unknown be worse? The OP has already stated the ex would never hurt her physically. He may be just playing mind games"
Yes, it would Meep, & that's why I'm suggesting that the OP eliminate all other possibilities. Nothing's far fetched these days is it? Always good to check over your shoulder just in case I reckon.
I didnt disagree with that, it was in response to your suggestion that I was unnecessarily revving her up.

We have an alarm system that also has the ability to record the outside of our house and garden area....no particular reason, or need, to have it but we can activate it any time and remotely, as well.
I do think it was less than $1000 to have installed but we do self monitoring.

I had a neighbor who trespassed onto my roof breaking my roof tiles as he went and moved one of my security cameras that was at the front of my house in broad daylight.
The camera was left facing the sky and when the footage was checked we could see him climbing up his ladder wearing a pair of white gloves and crossing over our fiberglass roofing which is right next to his garage and attached near our roof before the camera was moved, one of our roof tiles had also been moved but he may have been spooked by another neighbor arriving home at the time he was on the roof.
After that incident I didn't feel safe and was terrified he would get into my home so we had sensors installed in the roof that would trigger our alarm if he got near the manhole, we also put locks on our manhole and updated our security system to a 16 channel unit and put up more cameras around the house. Late last year we put two more cameras on the antenna of our roof because he was still damaging our property hiding behind large trees etc to avoid detection on camera, he really loved that!!!
Kylie I don't know your situation with the ex it may or may not be him but do whatever you need to do to feel safe and block of that manhole.

I would recommend after letting the police know is getting yourself a good watch dog.My dogs can hear noises and movements long before we can.And cameras also.Terrible to think just what people will do.

How bizarre ! Was just reading this thread and heard a loud crash outside. I have had some roof tiles slide off and smash on the ground. These were part of the eaves and we have had big winds and rain here today so no doubt what caused it but a bit weird when I was reading this.

agree.
cueperkins wrote: "Ring a roofing company who does that kind of roof (send an email of the pics) and ask them what they think might have caused it."
* The only thing they can say is "human intervention - or maybe ALIENS.
cueperkins wrote: "Easy enough. That way there's no guessing & the cops will respond to deliberate tampering if it's proven. It may just be kids goofing off.".
* Please explain the difference between "deliberate tampering" by person(s) unknown and "deliberate tampering" by "kids goofing off''. How would even the roofing experts determine which had occurred? ?:|
OP, I may have missed this, but, is there any easy way for someone to access the roof? ie overhanging tree branch etc or would the perpetrator have had to use a ladder or some other aid to reach the roof? Do you have a ladder or some other aid to climbing? Where is it kept - eg in locked shed or in the open?

The difference was whether it was the ex, or just someone up to another version of 'no good'...or....nature.
re:: tiles being stacked up was not something I caught along the way. The pics look like there's only one missing and another dislodged. So what tiles were stacked up?
As others had said, they have had tiles like that on their own roof dislodge so it's not a far stretch to think it might be that simple.
You're probably right, I have no business offering another point of view....it's probably Aliens....:^O
OP- good luck sorting it out.

Sorry, several people have mentioned 'stacked up' and the OP said that the photo was taken AFTER BIL have replaced some of the tiles, and the original photo which showed more of the hole and removed tiles would not load.... so ....
I still think it unlikely that all those tiles removed themselves - however, I was wrong once - I think from memory it was once when someone convinced me I was wrong and I accepted that only to find out later that I had actually been right, so I was wrong in believing that I was wrong . ]:)
