Something I have noticed about political posts/threads

and I could be wrong and guilty of the same

trying not to be biased here but 🙂

left leaning tend to decipher information in the news and give personal thoughts along with links

right leaning tend not to decipher but copy and paste endless articles without much personal input views

not trying to start an argument here but has anyone else noticed this?

as i relative newbie the threads that seem to get the most posters cross are the ones about articles in the media re: murders, missing planes etc. All the speculating and opinion often ends in locked threads or upset posters. not my cup of coffee (tea).

Maybe because you're a newbie, you don't get it. This isn't a political forum. It's a chat one. But of late, Every other thread seems to be political, and if you don't agree with the "group" you get belittled, chastised, told to grow up. Never worked for me. I have opinions, they may not be yours, but on a chat forum, I should be allowed to post them.

interesting because the last time there were no political threads (it wasn't very long) posters started posting about how boring it was - even though it would also be posted that political threads were boring - maybe they enjoy the argy bargy but not the politics? I don't know and don't care - I post in the threads that interest me - some are just fun and silly, some are political. I don't participate in the "media story" threads because I'm not interested in speculating but I don't care if others do. Nevy you can post wherever you like, can't you?

Have you noticed belittling going the other way? Or are you meaning it goes both ways?

Totally. But the squeakiest wheel is the one heard. But, there has been more belittling from the left of late, even before the election than from the right. It's sad because they don't realise they lost their argument, and probably a vote for their party because of it.

Attacking personally is tacky. Not allowing time for policies to be effective is childish. Bashing papers/TV because they don't agree with your viewpoint is also very off putting. Genuine news stories (like Obama's comedy routine LOL) fair game to critique. Personally, I loved it. A lot of the Rudd/Julia stuff was uncalled for, but so is a lot of the Abbot stuff. Seems that those who tend to post are myopic.

I think too many posters - on both sides - mistake name-calling for rational debate.

Most right wing posters have come to the realisation that it is a case of spreading pearls of wisdom before swine.

I rest my case.

Do you understand WHY? Because most knew it wouldn't last. Plus anyone who posts their opinion on anything still felt they'd be over-run with C&Ps or putdowns.

When I look back you are probably right and I agree Obama was very funny. It is not only abbott though that has been under the spotlight, a lot of his team have made some terrible mistakes and said some really stupid things and questioning those policies is worthwhile.

I would like to see some legitimate praise for abbott and his government, there is very little of that, even from his supporters, there is just endless copy and pastes and cartoons without personal input. I'm curious what people really think, not who they agree with, there has to be a reason why people think the government is doing a good job. Job creation, climate 'variation' LOL, gay marriage, asylum seekers are topics the left often want to discuss - however there aren't that many on the right keen to discuss ???

If I bring up something that abbott said in the past, why cannot that be discussed in relation to his current decisions and policies? Every time the 'there will be no carbon tax' was mentioned it was responded to.
