Gerry usually whinges when he's on TV. He has said he's afraid he will lose all of his money.
You really need to NOT feel sorry for him.

No chance of that happening.
He's just too greedy and selfish for me.

Oh dear, he just can't get over the fact that the internet was invented and has made online trading good competition for B & M businesses, we have a global economy and nobody needs to head exclusively to his stores anymore when they want to buy a good tele for a good price.
Losing his marbles and a tad deluded.
He should have handed over the reins to someone younger with forward thinking ideas.

He's a very clever man....see how everyone is talking about him now;-)
As for greedy....not IMO. He gave very generously when asked for a donation to help a terminally ill friend.

I bought a small LCD TV online recently, advt price incl delivery, on the day of delivery they call and give a 2 hour window when they will deliver it. They took the old one away for free (which is good as the council charge $60 to dump a TV).Extended warranty is offered and a reasonable cost for it. Easy to use website with a vast amount of brands/products. Can phone and speak to staff if you have any queries.
I have in the past waited at home all day for HN to bring an item and they never showed up. They charged to take away old wash machine ($10) plus $50 delivery fee.
The other day I had to ring tech support at our local HN. The receptionist kept putting me through but when I told her no-one was answering and asked her was there actually any staff in the tech support - she said she didn't know.

Talking about him? Scoffing about him more likely.. as in the article linked.
As a retailer he is greedy. The HN stores are understaffed & don't have that big a range now..if you don't get good service at a real store, all the more reason to buy online.

So in the space of thirty seconds, Gerry Harvey said that he’ll become the largest retailer in the country on a platform [the internet] he believes is a failure. Riiiiight.
From link in OP.
