Looks like Bronnie Bishop will get the gig, apparently (according to abbott) she is going to attempt to re-introduce a bit of decorum to the House.

"I want to bring some dignity back to the parliament and that means a Speaker who can control the parliament and who can act without fear or favour."

Will her first act be to kick out the poodle ?

I could hardly believe this when I heard it this morning.  IMO she is not strong enough for that job, but will have to wait and see.  Perhaps a bit long in the tooth also?

I suspect it is because she wanted a minister's job, and the front bench is now very masculine. 

Well, sort of.         So that we know now that Abbott likes women after all.

she spent the last 2 terms holding the book..  every time the speaker ruled someone out of order she'd rise to her feet, book in hand.. far too late and completely wrong usually. extremely ineffective.

Rottwieller or mincing poodle. Gillards words, oh how nasty & misadrist she was & still is. Don't hear any howls of gender war sexist outrage from this lot. Anything that isn't in the 24hour news cycle didn't happen because people on here don't have tha capacity to retain anything before that.
