how do i get it to jump to the last post read?

i have that option ticked but it keeps taking me to the first page of threads.

I am having problems; could not post a post because it wanted me to correct the highlighted bits, except nothing was highlighted.  After few tries to post the same thing, it changed its mind and started to tell me that my post is not allowed to have more than 20 000 characters; it was 3 lines !     .............. and I hate the new emoticons 😞

I was whinging about the changes all day, then I slept on it and when I woke up this morning I realised......
