.........proposing Gillard for beautification.  She was tough, but did not have the fortitude to be successful within a position that required her to exist in a male dominated world. Other women have managed without crying "mummy" and she was judged over time by the population as a result.

I do wonder if  what you  perceive as "vile sexist garbage" is because you  have at some time in the past been subject to, or observed  gender bias.

I agree, Smith was a competent administrator within his portfolio. However, I can appreciate the defence force view, from Service leaders with decades of military experience,  of a politician with no military background, and only a short time as Minister of Defence with no long time prospects. Smith was a lawyer before turning to politics.

Next I will be what?

Just because you haven't seen does not mean they don't exist.

I saw dozens of sites created for the sole purpose of publishing abuse of the PM.

More than half the comments could only be described as vile. They are violent, sexist and defamatory.

You don't know me very well.  The last thing I would do is propose anyone for beautification or any other form of beatification  :^O

She was tough and I don't agree she cried "mummy". The way it was talked about by some, with the saturation factor, you would think she did but the reality is that it was others talking that based on their own observation that caused them to speak of it.  The reality was that she was the first female so people did speak of it.  Jane Caro and Juila Baird summed it up nicely.

I think if she had become leader instead of Rudd the win would not have been so decisive and the mood less jubilant but she would have been a leader with confidence.  She seemed to never be quite comfortable with the way she gained power and was always at a disadvantage because of it.  A man would have been forgiven much more readily.

If you really want to see some of the vile sexist rubbish I've seen search it up. There is plenty that make pickering and Jones seem tame.  Facebook is rich pickings.

And no, I thought we had progressed since my school days.  I thought we were ready for a female leader of any variety.  It was a shock to see how backward we are.

I ask a question. How many times has Mr Abbott referred to the PM by name in the last 3 years?

Do you mean in Parliament?

I would be surprised if Mr Abbott ever referred to the Prime Minister by name in Parliament...it is not appropriate.  It is all about titles.  The speaker is always Mr Speaker etc. We have the Leader of the Opposition, the Deputy Leader, the Treasurer and so on.  It would be very disrespectful of Mr Abbott to call her anything but Prime Minister.

Don't look for slights where they don't exist.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
