A STAGGERING 6000 people - including overseas backpackers - have received Labor's $900 "stimulus" payment since January 1- even though the global financial meltdown ended four years ago.
In a major dent to Labor's economic credibility, the costly government bungle means taxpayers will fork out more than $5 million in "tax bonus" payments in 2013.
A News Corp Australia investigation can reveal hordes of backpackers on "working holiday" visas received the one-off cash bonus - even though 5 million Australian workers missed out.
Despite the Rudd Government driving the budget $30 billion into deficit, nearly $40 million worth of "stimulus" cheques remain uncashed, the Australian Tax Office says.
I don't care if it is Tax Office policy I think the government could look into this and save some dollars...

Labor running the economy and wasting our money....... Nothing unusual in that Cat 🙂
Only 3 weeks to go to say bye bye to the worst govt in our history and watch labor get voted into the back benches for a decade or more
🙂

public servants and the computers they use have always made errors. from 2001 until 2008 one of my friends partners kept receiving letters concerning his death from the department of veterans affairs, even though he was still rowing every morning. govt depts have made errors for many years, so blaming the current govt is silly.. but not at all unexpected.
no wonder abbott is doing well with a nonstop 24hr a day bleep machine pumping out this bleep.

the amounts mentioned pale in comparison to other blunders.. costello lost 5bn selling Australia's gold reserves for one, and sold telstra which earned a lot of revenue on some bizarre principle that has proved to be a bleep.

I was kind of hoping for some of your input into the latest polls on the above thread LL... .
Keep up the good work LL as we all benefit from your insightful input on here and the powers to be at the labor party head quarters are very pleased with your work on this forum 🙂

Not long now & the MAJORITY of Australians will rid this country of this farcical Labor party.
There really isn't anything they can get right is there?. The Labor supporters on here will find some lame excuse for this but it must be gut wrenching & kick in the guts for them, for this to come out now, in the middle of an election. , as if they can take any more from the failure of the Rudd redux.
If Australians were wavering in their decision to vote then this must surely kick them to the right decision to NOT vote for Labor

who isn't aware of the polls bleep.
with a full scale news ltd assasination gillard style underway i'm surprised they aren't worse. governments elected on false platforms like the LNP are a big letdown and i look forward to laughing at them flounder.
i lived under howard, and he was a spendthrift. i did OK, but he led the most wasteful government we've ever had (a matter of record)
and i milked it for all it was worth.

I think receiving letters is a little different to receiving the stimulus payouts, after all the cost of a stamp pales in significance to the amount paid to deceased people, dead dogs and back packers gone home.
If your friend kept receiving the letters why not visit the DVA and tell them to stop ? Lazy perhaps or just didn'y care. to waste his time.

There you go digging up the past again LL, even JG said on numerous occasions "we must go forward" so why is it so hard for you to do the same?

i lived under howard, and he was a spendthrift. i did OK
Glad to see that you admit that you did well under a LIBERA govt and Howard... Australia did very well under Howard and a Liberal govt, unlike now.... We also had stable govt under Howard and the SAME LEADER....
I take you are NOT doing well under the Labor Govt LL... Things not going well with them in govt for you LL ?
but he led the most wasteful government we've ever had (a matter of record)
and i milked it for all it was worth.
He had the money to do it and paid back the last massive labor debt and even left 22+ BILLION in cold hard cash in the bank account and a debt free country.
What do we have now... 300 BILLION of debt, we are out of money and Rudd is still making wild spending promises that we the Australian tax payers cant afford.
So choices.... Labor and Massive DEBT and a dysfunctional govt
or
Liberal.... Stability and proper govt that will pay back the 300 BILLION dollar debt that labor has left us
So no comments on this thread LL? I am disappointed or has Labor head office told you not to comment on POLL threads?
