Suggestion for a simple method to prevent spread of contagions.

I am putting this 'out there' because I haven't a clue about electronics ( apart

from finding on switches ).

Most contagious diseases are spread from hand to mouth, nose or eyes.

That is, touching an infected surface ( or removing a mask incorrectly ) then touching your face.

The device 'should' be simple for those in the know.

A pendant worn around the neck.

A ring placed on the hand.

When the ring comes near the pendant an audible sqeal is heard

or a voice saying "wash your bloody hands or at least use the back of your hands".

Because we are not in epidemic mode constantly it's hard to overcome our face touching

( which apparently occurs a zillion times a day ).

Just a thought.

My return from os 14 day quarantine ends tomorrow.

Off to the doc for a flu shot. Mask on an dkeeping distance for sure.

Not sure how many asymptomatics will be lurking in the clinic.

Ultimately a mask will stop me touching my face directly even if it

doesn't do much good filtering aerosol particles.

Going back may years, I built a magnet / magnetic switch / light and battery circuit into a bathroom medicine cabinet.

When the door opened, the light came on...

It was all very simple and straightforward - the bulk of the idea came from a "Simple electronic projects" book.

Bring it forward to the modern age, where electronics is not only more sophisticated, and compact, I don't see why your idea isn't do-able.

If you have a passive chip on your EFTPOS card, that you "Tap and Go" at the supermarket checkout, then surely something like that chip, coupled with a Smart Watch would do the job...

I guess... I'm no expert in these things, ha ha...

I was, at best, an enthusiastic amateur hobbyist.

Now it's over to the experts to take it from there...

It could, as a means of keeping hands away from faces, be marketed to people with conjunctivitis, nail biters, and even, Eeew! Nose pickers, ha ha.

The possibilities are endless...

Thank you for raising the idea in the first place.

A possible viable solution - cheaper by the million

Just wear a face mask -  a functional contagion spec training N95 air filter mask - designed with  an integrated sonic motion detector built into the snout calibrated for 6 cms , so when one unconsciously reaches to touch your face a buzzer rings to remind

After a time one with no longer touch one's face

Sensor and button battery at the plastic front air outlet structure , buzzer built into the strap behind the ear

patent pending ( just joking)
